Back in summer I was chosen as one of four directors to go on a director’s scheme for the BBC drama Casualty. It was a great experience which involved directing a scene with some fantastic actors, editing it straight after, as well as storyboarding some stunt scenes. After the world of micro budget film making, imagining how to film a roof blowing off, or a tree breaking through a windscreen, was a lot more fun than I’d thought.

In September I went to an UnderWire networking event at Encounters film festival for female directors. I heard about a great job that was going with Bristol Old Vic to direct a short film for them in November and have just found out that I was lucky enough to get the gig. Can’t wait!

Love Struck has been selected for the Zebra Poetry Film Festival in Berlin in October 2012 as well as the Auburn International Film Festival in Australia! In addition to the Colchester Film Festival and the Screen Stockport Festival. The writer of the film Ali Blodwen Jones and I’ll be headed out to Berlin but sadly not to OZ!

It feels like a while since I’ve updated this blog – where have the months gone? In spring I was selected to make a campaign film for Macmillan Cancer Wales which involved travelling around the country and meeting some very inspiring people who have cancer. And the other exciting news now is that I’ve made it on a directors’ scheme for a BBC drama which takes place in July. Am very excited to have had my first broadcast credit on BBC 2 with Love Struck, a short film I directed, If you missed it you can watch it here. If you want to know more about the film click here.

It a bittersweet love story based on an ancient Welsh folktale. The film was written by Ali Blodwen Jones and produced by Lisa Edwards, as part of the  It’s My Shout scheme for 2011.

Just off to the Power to the Pixel Lab as part of a prize from the MEDIA funded tranformatlab scheme I have been on this summer in Paris, Budapest and Newport. Off to find out about new ways of financing and distributing films!
