I have embarrassingly not touched this website since having a baby but thought I’d better post that I’ve got a new short about to come out. I’ve collaborated with an old friend Marlek al-Habib on a short film he wrote called “The Lift”, starring Anita Dobson and Mark Letheren. All the action takes place in a lift which was an interesting creative challenge. It’s a lovely story and the film was a gem to work on, the actors and the crew were a total delight. We’ve picture locked and are now in the final stages of post production so watch this space.
Back in summer I was chosen as one of four directors to go on a director’s scheme for the BBC drama Casualty. It was a great experience which involved directing a scene with some fantastic actors, editing it straight after, as well as storyboarding some stunt scenes. After the world of micro budget film making, imagining how to film a roof blowing off, or a tree breaking through a windscreen, was a lot more fun than I’d thought.
In September I went to an UnderWire networking event at Encounters film festival for female directors which is worth mentioning because it was so good. We were each assigned mentors and had a lovely evening of chatting and thinking through career goals. I’ve already had work from the contacts I made that night. I hope it happens again.
Love Struck has been selected for the Zebra Poetry Film Festival in Berlin in October 2012 as well as the Auburn International Film Festival in Australia! In addition to the Colchester Film Festival and the Screen Stockport Festival. The writer of the film Ali Blodwen Jones and I’ll be headed out to Berlin but sadly not to OZ!
It feels like a while since I’ve updated this blog – where have the months gone? In spring I was selected to make a campaign film for Macmillan Cancer Wales which involved travelling around the country and meeting some very inspiring people who have cancer. And the other exciting news now is that I’ve made it on a directors’ scheme for a BBC drama which takes place in July. But that’s enough rambling – here’s a showreel of mine if you’re interested…Drama Showreel

It a bittersweet love story based on an ancient Welsh folktale. The film was written by Ali Blodwen Jones and produced by Lisa Edwards, as part of the It’s My Shout scheme for 2011.
Please all tune in and let me know what you think – for more information go the Love Struck website where you can find out more about the film – from cast and crew, animation, music to storyboards. The film is a real testament to a great team of talented people.
Just off to the Power to the Pixel Lab as part of a prize from the MEDIA funded tranformatlab scheme I have been on this summer in Paris, Budapest and Newport. Off to find out about new ways of financing and distributing films!
I still can’t quite believe how well the two screenings of Bubbles went in Soho on September 29th. Two packed screenings and very positive feedback from industry. Thanks to everyone who came. Here’s an embarrassingly lovely review of the screening from Frost magazine – click here
