It a bittersweet love story based on an ancient Welsh folktale. The film was written by Ali Blodwen Jones and produced by Lisa Edwards, as part of the It’s My Shout scheme for 2011.

Just off to the Power to the Pixel Lab as part of a prize from the MEDIA funded tranformatlab scheme I have been on this summer in Paris, Budapest and Newport. Off to find out about new ways of financing and distributing films!

Three generations in a country mansion. A hot summer’s day. A photograph resurfaces that changes everything. The past become present, and former loves refuse to be forgotten. A film about desire, guilt and awakening.

Leyla Pope has an Iranian mother and English Father. She grew up in Tehran, Dubai and Saudi Arabia before moving to London at the age of ten. Used to a life of perpetual traveling she has since lived in France, Switzerland and the US but is, at least for now, settled in Cardiff, Wales.
Leyla has only just finished directing a short 9min drama to be broadcast on BBC in autumn 2011 as part of the “It’s My Shout Scheme”.
Her previous short film “Bubbles” is currently on the festival circuit and was recently screened at the Hay Film Festival, The Portobello Film Festival and at the Soho Screening Rooms in September. To read a recent review of the film click here
